Do my friends need a PayOneTable account?

Accepted Answer

No. Only the person splitting the bill needs an account. Everyone else just receives their amount — share the per-person breakdown by text, or show them the QR to settle up.

Does PayOneTable charge anyone's card?

Accepted Answer

No. PayOneTable only calculates what each person owes — it never moves money or processes payments. Settle up however you already do (your favourite payment app, cash, whatever). The only charge is your own optional subscription.

What if the receipt scanner reads something wrong?

You review every item, price and fee before splitting, and an inline check flags any total that doesn't match the receipt. Tap to fix anything — or skip scanning and enter items by hand. The AI gives you a head start; you always have the final say.

Question 4

Can two people share one item?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tap everyone splitting a dish — a shared bottle of wine, an appetizer — and its cost is divided evenly among just those people.

How are tax, fees, service charges and tip divided?

Accepted Answer

Proportionally to what each person ordered, down to the cent, so whoever ordered more covers a little more of the extras. A gratuity already printed on the bill is treated as tip, and discounts are subtracted. No one overpays and no penny is lost or invented.

What happens to my receipt photos?

Your photos are sent to the AI to read the items, then stored privately in your own account so you can view them later (a paid feature). They're never public and never shared. Delete your account and they're erased.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. From Account → Delete account you can permanently erase your profile, every saved split and every receipt photo. It's immediate and irreversible.

Can I use it for groceries, roommates and other non-restaurant bills?

Absolutely — PayOneTable splits any receipt. A grocery haul you share with roommates, a bar tab, a store run, a group trip or a one-off shared purchase all work. Tag it as a restaurant, café, bar, grocery, store or Other; we only suggest a tip where it makes sense, your full history is saved so you keep a record of who owed what, and your analytics break spending down by category.

Is my history free, or do I have to pay?

Your full saved history — every split, every person and every per-person total — is free forever. Paid plans add more AI receipt scans and the spending-analytics dashboard on top of that same history.
